FanDuel, the leading sports betting operator, is launching a standalone casino app in Pennsylvania for gamblers. This is being done specifically during the coronavirus pandemic to attract more players.
It was previously launched within the company’s local sportsbook platform but now will be made available in the state for iOS and Android users. The interested players will need to log in and then they can place live wagers on the games. There are blackjack, roulette and slot machines like it is found in brick-and-mortar casinos.
Jesse Chemtob, general manager and vice president of casino at FanDuel Group, has shared that they are really excited for the launch in Pennsylvania as it is the first state where they introduced FanDuel Casino alongside their FanDuel Sportsbook product. Pennsylvania offers great engagement and interest to the FanDuel Casino product, so the company saw this app as a gradual step to take the experience further and provide a full-service gaming experience to the Pennsylvania customers.
The company has partnered with Valley Forge Casino and Boyd Gaming in Pennsylvania to launch the casino app. They also offered discounts and refunds to the first few players in the 24 hours after launch.
The casino app has come during the time when the sports betting is going through its lull period due to pandemic and lockdown. All the sports leagues were forced to shut down in mid-March as the pandemic worsened. FanDuel, rival DraftKings and other sportsbooks thus turned to other events to fill the revenue gap and are now launching online games and apps to sustain the customers. FanDuel was among the first operators to go live and has taken more than $200 million in wagers on its online table games in each of the last four months.
