Leaders Juve have the fate of the Serie A title in their own hands, with their 3-1 win in Genoa in midweek setting them up nicely to win their ninth consecutive crown. It’s theirs to lose and with three wins out of three since the end of lockdown, they have been able to hit the ground running while some of their rivals have floundered and dropped vital points.
Torino haven’t fared as well, with two defeats and one win since the restart, and come into this one off the back of a home defeat in midweek by second-placed Lazio. That they were unable to handle one of the league’s best team at home, suggests it’s a very big ask to expect them to get anything in Turin.
Four wins for Juve and a single draw in the last five meetings between these two, and with Torino scoring less than a goal a game away from home, says to me that even at -333 there’s value in the Juve win. Easy money.
Best Bet: Juventus to win (-333)
Sassuolo’s home draw with Verona last Sunday was enough to almost secure their place in Serie A for next season, but one more win looks almost certain to clinch it. A home game with 18th-placed Lecce is, in theory, an ideal fixture for them to achieve this.
But Lecce are staring relegation in the face and, while they are left with little room for maneuver as the season enters its final straight, they do have Udinese, Sampdoria, and Genoa well within their sights.
Scrapping for points in tricky away games and winning at home will be their route to safety and I believe they can nick a point here, maybe in a very tight 1-1 draw.
Best Bet: Sassulol and Lecce to draw (+319)
Lazio’s midweek away win against Torino has maintained the pressure on leaders’ Juve but any dropped points at this stage will be costly. For I Biancocelesti to maintain their challenge and, potentially win their first title since 1999/2000, tricky games like this one have to be negotiated with the minimum of fuss.
But Milan are dangerous opponents who hit the ground running directly after the restart with two straight wins – over Lecce and Roma. Going into the enforced break, they had fallen off the pace in the race for the Europa League places, but those wins have taken them to within a single point of sixth.
If they can tap into their post-lockdown momentum, Milan can make this an uncomfortable evening for Lazio on the Stadio Olimpico, and while a win is a big ask, they could pick up a vital point.
