The $75,000 Azalea Stakes is set to run on a 12-race program at Gulfstream Park on July 4.
The race for 3-year-old fillies will sprint seven furlongs on the main track.
Some of the top names taking part in the event include Don’t Get Khozy and Boerne.
Here is a look at the field for the Azalea Stakes.
Don’t Get Khozy, Borne
Drawing Away Stable’s Don’t Get Khozy will be making her 16th career start and first stakes outing in the Azalea. She is coming off back-to-back wins at Gulfstream Park, both of which came under returning rider Joseph Trejos.
Don’t Get Khozy is a chestnut daughter of Khozan out of the Grahame Hall mare Get Noticed, and she ran for a $25,000 tag when she finished four lengths ahead in a June 10 one-mile claiming event.
10 days after that performance, she returned to win by 7 1/2 lengths in a seven-furlong optional claiming allowance for $75,000.
Don’t Get Khozy has a record of 4-3-1 out of nine races, and all four wins have come in her last five starts.
As a 2-year-old, she ran five times with one win, which was a maiden claiming race in mid-October at Gulfstream Park West.
She is coming in at 4-1 and will break from post 5.
De Luca and Sons Stable’s Boerne had a three-race win streak going before it was broken in the Game Face. That race was her stakes debut, and the daughter of Fed Biz held the lead going into the stretch but couldn’t hold on.
Before that performance, Boerne won maiden special weight, optional claiming allowance, and allowance victories by 15 combined lengths. The latter two ran at 6 1/2 furlongs, making the Azalea her longest race.
Boerne raced one time at the age of 2, finishing fifth in a maiden special weight at Gulfstream Park West.
The filly will break from post 6 at 6/5 under Edgar Zayas.
Another runner to keep an eye on is Briannhenn Racing’s Addilyn.
The daughter of Palace Malice has a career record of 1-4-1 from 12 starts and earnings of $82,302.
Her last performance was a third place effort in the June 6 Game Face Stakes (Black Type) at Gulfstream, which followed a second-place finish in a May 16 allowance optional claiming at the track.
Before that, she finished all the way back in 12th in the March 28 Fasig-Tipton Gulfstream Park Oaks (G2) at Gulfstream.
The filly will break from post 3 at 4/1 under jockey Leonel Reyes.
The rest of the field (post, morning line) is set to include: Bankruptonthebeach (post 1, 5/1); Estilo Talentose (post 2, 6/1); and Compensate (post 4, 10/1).
