What Is Elimination Blackjack?

We have already introduced you to Blackjack tournaments where fans of the game can compete with other players for a chance to win a prize or a share of a prize pool. These tournaments come in a variety of formats depending on whether they are available at online or land-based casinos. One of Blackjack tournament formats is so-called Elimination Blackjack, so stay with us to learn who it works.

Introduction to Elimination Blackjack

Elimination Blackjack is a tournament format you can enjoy offline and online. It is a combination of standard Blackjack and No Limit Texas Hold’Em elements. When you join the tournament, you will play against other players, and your main goal is to collect the most chips. Up to seven players can join a table, and 30 hands are dealt per round. All competitors receive the same amount of chips worth between $10,000 and $100,000.

Elimination Blackjack Rules

Elimination Blackjack is played by the rules of Single Deck Blackjack which include the dealer hitting on soft 17s or less and standing on a hard 17 or higher. Players are allowed to split pairs up to four times, except for a pair of Aces. Insurance becomes available when the dealer has an Ace and players can make use of early surrender.

Although most Elimination Blackjack tournaments use the same rules, sometimes they may vary, so you should always check them before you join the table. Typically, a six-deck shoe is in play in these tournament formats. Keep in mind that you have a limited amount of time to make your decisions. It is 15 to 25 seconds during regular hands and 30 to 45 seconds in a hand where elimination happens.

Elimination Blackjack introduces a so-called secret bet. This wager allows the player to place a bet without revealing its value to other players until the hand is played. Such a bet can be placed only once per round. It provides players with an opportunity to bluff, which is a Poker element added to the game of Blackjack.

How You Get Eliminated?

You will be eliminated automatically from the tournament if you lose all your chips or cannot place the minimum bet. Also, you will get eliminated if you have the least amount of chips at the end of the so-called Elimination Hands. Typically, Elimination Hands include the 8th, 16th and 25th hand. The primary purpose of these hands is to eliminate participants in the tourney so that only four of them make it to the 30th hand, which is final.

How to Win at Elimination Blackjack

As we have already mentioned, your main goal is to end the tournament with most chips. The player with the most chips at the end of the last hand will win in the competition. This format of Blackjack competitions is the most popular with players, and you should consider giving it a try. If you decide to join Elimination Blackjack, we have a piece of advice for you. Keep your bets low if you have twice as many chips as your opponents, and increase them if you notice that other competitors wager smaller amounts.
