THE famous hanging egg chair has been hot off the shelves this summer – but here’s how you can still get your hands on one.
The classic 1960s style, which is a hit with celebrities, has been selling out everywhere as shoppers flocked to buy them.
Most of the rattan styles feature a steel frame to help hold the seat while the chair itself is often made with a woven material.
Many of the popular places to buy these chairs on the cheap like Aldi, Argos, Wilkos and B&M have sold out and we do not know if they’ll be back in stock before the end of the season.
If you’re still keen to get your hands on one from the stores listed above, then sign up to their newsletters or product alerts to find out when they are back in stock.
Or you could try one of these places, which still have them in stock when we checked. But they are on the more expensive end of the scale.
Amazon – from £249.99
There’s a host of third party sellers selling hanging egg chairs on Amazon, although many of them don’t have any reviews, so do your research on the buyer carefully before handing over any money.
We found a Cumbria-based seller, Cherry Tree Furniture, selling rattan hanging egg chairs on Amazon starting from £249.99 for one in a “azura black” colour. It is also available in white for £259.99.
The chair has a four-star rating from three reviews . Delivery costs £19.99 and if you order today, you get it delivered between August 20-24.
La Maison Chic – £279.99
Also at the slightly pricier end of the scale is this sleek White Rattan Swing Weave Patio Garden Hanging Egg Chair by La Maison Chic.
Available on their website for £279.99, this chair can hold up to 50kg and ideal for indoor and outdoor use.
The chair is currently in stock and available for free delivery in the UK, mainland.
The Rattan Company – £285
This York-based company’s sole mission is to “revive indoor rattan furniture in the UK with a contemporary take”.
Their indoor Berlin Hanging Egg Chair is handmade from natural rattan cane and costs £285.
The only downside to this product is that it does not come with hanging hardware, so you would need to get someone in to attach it to a ceiling or beam.
The egg chairs aren’t the only staple furniture piece that people are buying up for their summer evenings.
Wayfair – from £237.99
Online furniture retailer Wayfair has a range of different hanging egg chairs on offer, but the Vasilia Swing Chair is a particularly stylish egg seat with it’s basket frame.
However, it is a little more expensive than some of the others at £409.99. But Wayfair, do have a sale on at the moment, so if you really want that hanging chair, be quick before they sell out.
Garden furniture has seen a spike in demand, so we’ve rounded up the cheapest options out there.
Hot tubs are also the must-have item for the summer – with the brand lay-z-spa enforcing a queue on its website after soaring demand.
Meanwhile others are setting up garden bars at home after coronavirus forced pubs and bars to shut.
